about the photographer

Welcome, and thank you for taking the time to view my photo galleries. I am a DC area outdoor, nature, and architectural photographer with over ten years of experience working in the field of digital imaging and photo editing.

I am currently Lead Photo Editor at National Geographic Fine Art Galleries where I prepare carefully selected images for high-end final output and publications and take part in curating a collection of images taken by some of the world’s top photographers.

My work is often on display in the DMV area and I have participated in shows at venues including the Annapolis Maritime Museum, Delray Artisans Gallery, Irvine Nature Center, The Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower, The Circle Gallery, Crystal City, a U.S. Post Office, and recently the Jadite Gallery in NYC. In addition to showing my work in galleries and public spaces, I also provide photographs to businesses, and recently completed a project where I installed 125 local photographs in a doctor’s office in Brandywine, MD.

I have been outdoorsy and adventurous since I was a young child, always wanting to know what was around the next bend and wandering off the beaten path. My love for nature has led to many camping, hiking, and canoeing adventures, always with camera and tripod in tow. I took my first “serious” photograph when I was about 12 years old on black and white film with a Pentax camera at a State Forest and have been hooked ever since. I knew working in the field of photography was the direction I wanted to go in.

I have worked directly with artists, photographers, and art consultants for over ten years in Baltimore and DC, where I have assisted with exhibition quality printing and presentation, photo editing and retouching, and digitizing sensitive documents, film, and print materials. A hand-full of clients I have worked on projects for include Bluemercury, Hilton Hotels, National Geographic Creative, Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies, the Kreeger Museum, Royal Thai Embassy, White House Historical Association, American Academy of Achievement, and several galleries, museums, and government organizations throughout the DC area.

artist statement

Photography allows me to capture and share with viewers the moment where I find myself in a perfectly balanced environment. A combination of space, texture, color, and light play a vital role in creating imagery that brings into perspective the importance of recognizing moments of unity between elements. Life is dependent upon the natural environment and I strive to share a portion of it with viewers through a combination of outdoor and nature photography, and digital manipulation in my surrealism series. Images I capture and create are not only instants of calm, but curiosity and solitude as well.

Through photography I am able to share moments where a sense of connection and appreciation for the natural environment are present. I hope to inspire viewers to create a bond with their surroundings and appreciate the vastness of life and what a small part of it we are.
